Day 2

Arusha – The Safari Capital of Tanzania

Welcome to Africa! Transfer to the Rivertrees, nestled in the foothills of Mt Meru. If time allows, enjoy a cycle through the colorful bustle of the village and past smallholder coffee projects offers insight into local life. Enjoy dinner and overnight.

Day 3

Arrive Serengeti and Game Drive

After breakfast, hop on a bush plane for a quick flight to Ubuntu Safari Camp. Arrive in time for lunch and then head out on an afternoon game drive. As this is a seasonal mobile safari camp, the camp is set up in the best possible location for prime wildlife viewing (oftentimes right from camp!). Return to camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 4

Full day Migration Experience in the Serengeti

Today, head out with a guide and packed picnic lunch for a full day exploring the Serengeti plains. Move as quickly or as leisurely as you would like in your private safari vehicle. This is a fabulous opportunity to see the great wildebeest and zebra migration, large herds of plains game and the highest concentrate of predators in Africa! Return to camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 5

Early morning game drive in Serengeti

This morning, rise early and set out as the sun begins to rise. This is the time of day when the wildlife is most active. Return to camp for a full breakfast and spend the afternoon relaxing in the shade, reading a good book. After high tea, set out for one final game drive in the Serengeti, stopping to watch the sun set with cocktails and appetizers.

Day 6

Chada Katavi and Walking in Katavi

After breakfast, board a bush flight to Katavi National Park, one of the most remote and wildest safari destinations in East Africa. After lunch, head out with your guide and an armed scout for a thrilling walking safari. Watch elephants from up close marveling at how, despite their size, they can move so quietly. Animals who would often take flight at the sound of a vehicle, won’t even know you’re there and that’s what makes walking out here such an incredible experience. Return to camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 7

Full day game drive in Katavi

Today, enjoy a full day game drive, a great opportunity to experience all that Katavi has to offer. Explore the park’s series of wide flood plains, blond with waist high grass in the early dry season, green and flooded like a mini Okavango after the rains. Season rivers connect the flood plains, and this is the focus of the game viewing for which Katavi is renowned during the dry season. Enjoy a packed picnic lunch and return to camp for dinner and overnight

Day 8

Fly Camping Experience

Today, walk to a nearby private fly camp where you will  spend a night out under the stars. Sleep under a mosquito netted tent, small but with enough room for a comfortable bedroll kitted out with soft mattress, sheets and a feather pillow. This evening, sit down to a three-course candlelit meal and a glass of chilled wine. Retire to your tent and gaze up at the night sky through the roof of your netted tent; listening to the night sounds of Africa all around.

Day 9

Greystoke Mahale and Lake Tanganyika

This morning, fly to the far Western edge of Tanzania, landing on the shores of Lake Tanganyika. You will then be transferred by boat to Greystoke Mahale. After lunch, spend the afternoon relaxing on the beach. Enjoy a peaceful boat ride as you watch the sun set before dinner.

Day 10

Greystoke Mahale and Chimpanzee Trekking

After an early breakfast, begin trekking with a team of guides to find the chimpanzees, reaching them as they wake from the evening’s sleep and begin moving about their day. Sit quietly on the forest floor and become aware of the subtleties of different relationships between the chimpanzees, through gesture, sound and expression. Return to camp for a refreshing swim in the lake and overnight.

Day 11

Greystoke Mahale and Chimpanzee Trekking

Once again, set out on foot, tracking the chimpanzees and spend a thrilling hour with them in their natural habitat. This afternoon, try your hand at fishing on Lake Tanganyika from a custom, traditional wooden boat. Enjoy dinner and overnight in camp.

Day 12

This morning, take a kayak out for a dawn paddle towards the middle of the lake; drink your morning coffee there and enjoy the sunrise coming up over the mountains. Spend the day playing on and relaxing by the calm lake waters.

Day 13

Beho Beho and Selous Game Reserve

This morning, transfer by boat back to the airstrip and fly to Selous Game Reserve, located in southern Tanzania. After lunch, head to the nearby Lake Tagalala for a boat ride. Return to camp for dinner.
