South Luangwa National Park and Bush Walk
Welcome to Africa! Transfer to the South Luangwa National Park, renowned as one of Africa’s greatest wildlife destinations. As you drive to camp, view large herds of elephant and buffalo along the way. Spend the afternoon relaxing by the pool. After high tea, enjoy a short bush walk around the camp before dinner.
Night Game Drive and Leopard Tracking
This morning, enjoy a game drive around camp, further acquainting yourself with the area. After a late lunch head out on a game drive as the sun begins to set. South Luangwa has one of the highest densities of leopard in the world, giving rise to the park’s nickname “Valley of the Leopard.” This shy predator is most often encountered on night game drives, which take place after dark. Learn about the Leopard and watch as your guide tracks this elusive creature. The night drive is also a great opportunity to see hyena, mongoose, civet, bush baby and genet.
Full day bush walking experience
Today you’ll see why South Luangwa is perhaps the most famous destination for walking safaris. With large areas that are completely inaccessible by road, you are virtually guaranteed not to see anything but wildlife when exploring the park on foot. Whether quietly detouring around an elephant or investigating a termite hill, you will get an up close and intimate glimpse of all the inhabitants of the bush, from largest to smallest. Return to camp after lunch for overnight.
This morning transfer to Chinzombo Camp, a luxurious property tucked into the shade of ancient trees on a bend of the Luangwa River. Spend the afternoon relaxing alongside your plunge pool, watching as elephant come to drink nearby at the river. This evening, enjoy a gourmet meal under the African stars.
Luangwa National Park Game Drive
This morning, travel by boat across the river to a waiting safari vehicle and guide. Enjoy an extended game drive in Luangwa National Park. The Luangwa River, which bisects the park, is the most intact major river system in Africa and is the life-blood of this area. Discover 60 different animal species and over 400 different bird species. Return to camp for dinner and overnight.
Day of Wellness and Bush Dinner
Today, choose to enjoy another game drive or a day of pampering. Schedule a few spa services, enjoy yoga on a raised platform in the shade of a large tree, or spend some time in the fitness center. After high tea, set out on a late afternoon game drive, culminating with a spectacular dinner out in the bush under the stars.
Today travel to the Lower Zambezi, famous for canoeing safaris and water activities, including catch and release tiger fishing! Arrive at Chongwe Camp in time for lunch. This afternoon, enjoy a Tiger Fishing excursion. The mighty Zambezi River has become the number one destination for avid fresh water anglers to “take on” the ferocious tiger fish (Hydrocynus Vittatus). Set out with an expert guide and try your luck! Return to camp for dinner and overnight.
After a leisurely morning viewing wildlife from camp and enjoying an alfresco lunch, set out on the Lower Zambezi River for game viewing by boat. Enjoy a slow-paced boat journey from camp, spotting elephant and hippos in the water and plenty of game along the edges as they come to drink. Stop for sundowner cocktails before returning to camp for overnight.
Wild Dog Tracking
Today, set out with a Wild Dog researcher to learn about and track wild dog. Once seriously threatened in Africa, thanks to widespread conservation efforts, populations are growing and strong, particularly in Zambia. Learn how to track these animals as well as more about their unique social dynamics and incredible hunting skills. Tonight, enjoy one last bush dinner in Africa.
Today you will fly to Lusaka, where you will connect with your flight to Johannesburg, and then continue home.
