We’re very excited about the opening of Zambia’s King Lewanika Lodge in April 2017 for a number of reasons. Firstly, Lewanika will be the only permanent lodge in the Zambia’s Liuwa Plain National Park!
In addition to its famed lions, Liuwa is home to the second biggest wildebeest migration in Africa, recovering cheetah numbers, a burgeoning hyena population, wild dogs, abundant zebra, buffalo and more than 300 bird species.
Lewanika also has one of the oldest conservation histories in Africa having originally being proclaimed a protected area by King Lewanika of the Lozis in the early 1880s.
Developed in partnership with African Parks (a conservation nonprofit that works closely with the Zambian Department of National Parks and Wildlife), Lewanika offers travelers another location in addition to the Serengeti to witness the Migration.
