Virunga Mountains - Volcanoes National Park
Nestled in the dramatic, jungle-covered slopes of the Virunga Mountains, Volcanoes National Park offers one of Africa’s most thrilling and emotional wildlife experiences. Home to nearly half the world’s remaining 1,000 mountain gorillas, the park’s lush rainforests provide a breathtaking backdrop for unforgettable encounters. Small groups of trekkers, guided by park experts and porters, venture deep into the hills in search of habituated gorilla families.
Nyungwe National Park
Nyungwe is a magical, misty rainforest filled with tree-sized ferns and the calls of wildlife. As Africa's largest high-altitude primary forest, it’s home to 13 species of primates, including chimpanzees, and boasts incredible biodiversity. The park also shelters over 300 bird species and 75 types of mammals, including the stunning Rwenzori turaco, leopards, and servals.
Akagera National Park
Once plagued by poaching, Akagera now thrives with wildlife, including lions, buffalo, giraffes, and elephants. The park is home to nearly 500 bird species, including the rare shoebill, and offers diverse landscapes of plains, woodlands, and swamps, making it one of East Africa’s most scenic destinations.
