ROTHSCHILD EXCLUSIVES
Kenya's Eternal Wilds
October 02-11, 2026
Hosted by Rothschild Safaris and Kenya’s most knowledgeable local guides, this journey is an immersion into the wild soul of East Africa, where golden plains stretch to the horizon, elephants roam ancient migration paths, and the rhythm of life unfolds beneath acacia trees.
Starting in Nairobi, we explore Kenya’s vibrant conservation legacy before flying into two of the country’s most exceptional safari regions: the wildlife-rich Mara Naboisho Conservancy and the remote highlands of Laikipia. These lands are home to iconic species, lion, cheetah, elephant, and giraffe, as well as rare and endangered wildlife like wild dog and Grevy’s zebra.
From hot air balloon safaris over the Mara to guided bush walks and horseback rides in Laikipia, every experience is designed for intimacy, authenticity, and wonder. Along the way, you’ll stay at handpicked properties known for their privacy, character, and connection to place, each offering refined comfort, heartfelt hospitality, and breathtaking settings.
Rothschild Exclusives go beyond what is typically included in a safari, in a highly curated small-group journey for between 6 and 12 guests.
SAMPLE ITINERARY
A Wild Welcome to Nairobi
Begin your journey in Kenya’s vibrant capital, where your Rothschild experience begins with a warm welcome and personal assistance at Nairobi International Airport. From there, you’re whisked away to The Emakoko, a tranquil lodge perched on the edge of Nairobi National Park. Despite its proximity to the city, this luxurious retreat offers a front-row seat to nature, with wildlife often seen from your private deck. Settle into your open-plan cottage, unwind by the pool, and let the sounds of the bush welcome you to Africa.
Conservation and Colonial Echoes
Today is dedicated to discovering the heart of Nairobi’s conservation efforts and colonial past. Begin at the Giraffe Center for close-up encounters with Rothschild giraffes, followed by a visit to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, the world’s most successful elephant rescue and rehabilitation center. Spend time observing the orphans during their playful mud-bath ritual. End the day with a visit to Karen Blixen’s historic farmhouse, made famous by Out of Africa, where you can stroll through lush gardens or enjoy lunch at the on-site restaurant. Return to The Emakoko for a quiet evening surrounded by wilderness.
Into the Naboisho Wilderness
Leave Nairobi behind as you transfer to Wilson Airport for your scenic flight into the Mara Naboisho Conservancy. Upon arrival, a game vehicle takes you to Hemingways Ol Seki Mara, a secluded camp perched above the savannah with sweeping views. Depending on your arrival time, head out for your first game drive and experience this rich ecosystem where predator sightings and dramatic landscapes set the tone for the days ahead. Back at camp, enjoy a sundowner and settle into your stylish tent, fully immersed in nature.
Ballooning Over the Mara
Before dawn, you’re transferred to a nearby launch site for an unforgettable hot air balloon safari. As the sun rises, float silently above the golden plains and watch wildlife stir from above, a truly unique perspective. After landing, celebrate the morning’s flight with a champagne breakfast set in the bush. Return to camp for a rest or leisurely lunch, then head out again on an afternoon game drive to track big cats or herds of elephants as the light softens. Evenings at Ol Seki are peaceful, with open-air dining and views over the conservancy.
Safari on Your Terms
Your day unfolds at your own pace, guided by your interests and your expert guide’s instincts. Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives through the vast Naboisho Conservancy, known for its impressive concentration of wildlife and minimal vehicle presence. Walk with a Maasai guide across open plains, encountering zebra and gazelle. Share stories around the fire at day’s end, with the sounds of the bush as your backdrop. With few other travelers in sight, this is safari as it was meant to be, personal and unhurried.
Wildlife Encounters and Cultural Moments
Spend another day discovering the depth and diversity of life within the Mara Naboisho Conservancy. Join a guided bush walk to discover the flora, animal tracks, and subtle signs often missed from a vehicle. Meet local Maasai villagers and learn about their deep connection to the land. As the sun dips below the horizon, return to camp for a candlelit dinner beneath the stars.
From Open Plains to Laikipia’s Wilds
After a final morning game activity, depart the Mara by air and fly to the Laikipia Plateau in northern Kenya. On arrival, you’ll be transferred to Enasoit Camp, a secluded, elegant property set in one of East Africa’s richest wildlife corridors. Overlooking a busy waterhole, your tented cottage offers a front-row seat to the rhythm of the wild. That afternoon, enjoy your first taste of Laikipia on a guided bush walk or game drive before gathering around the fire in the open-sided mess tent.
